Michael Prince

MICHAEL PRINCE’s fiction has been called “engrossing” by Publishers Weekly and “wonderfully vivid” by Kirkus. His short stories have appeared in Heater, Raven Chronicles, and other magazines. He has published fiction in two languages. Before 2023, he published fiction under the pseudonym BURNABY HAWKES.
Prince was born in Egypt, where he completed his medical degree at twenty-three and later worked as a physician in family medicine and psychiatry. He went on to study global affairs and international security at the American University in Cairo and the Monterey Institute of International Studies in California. His early fiction was published in Arabic and often returned to the lives of Christians in the Middle East.
After settling in Canada, Prince studied English and philosophy at the University of Toronto. Besides writing, he has worked as an ER nurse, a security guard, a baker, and an intern at the NATO Council of Canada.
He spends his time between Newfoundland and Hurghada.
