Meet Michael Prince

IMG_2510.jpeg

MICHAEL PRINCE is the author of many novels, short stories, articles, as well as some plays and translations. His latest novel, The Haze—a spy thriller with fantastical elements—was critically acclaimed for its psychological depth and intricate plotting.

He was born and raised in Egypt and completed his medical degree in 2006. He practiced family medicine, then psychiatry, before studying political science at the American University in Cairo and later at the Monterey Institute of International Studies in California, where he earned a master’s degree in global affairs and international security. He moved to Canada in 2014, where he worked a variety of jobs, including baker, security guard, political analyst at the NATO Council, and finally ER nurse.

He is now focused on writing fiction full-time. He divides his time between Canada and Egypt. In addition to social and Christian fiction, he writes mystery, fantasy, and adventure stories. He has a particular fascination with the short story form.

He is fond of dogs, hiking, road trips, weight training, and Victorian England—for some reason.

His early fiction was published in Arabic and tackled the persecution of Christians in the Muslim world. His debut novel, Assiut Citystan, was critically acclaimed in Egypt and brought him into conflict with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Prince thinks of himself as a Christian fiction writer who uses the gift of imagination to create engaging stories for readers of all kinds. His favorite writers include Dickens, Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, Jules Verne, Chekhov, Ray Bradbury, Lord Dunsany, J. K. Rowling, and Ursula K. Le Guin.

Previously established in English under the pen name BURNABY HAWKES, he decided to abandon it and publish under his real name after converting to the Catholic Church in 2023. Someday, he’ll write a good story about that...

Keep him in your prayers, and give his stories a shot.

God bless.
